Latvia's Baltikums bank plans to open office in Lithuania by late next week Latvia's Baltikums bank plans to open a representational office in Lithuania's capital Vilnius by the end of next week, July 13, reported the bank. Baltikums reported that permission has been granted by the Bank of Lithuania for opening office, as well as from the Economy Ministry, while permission for starting banking operations is yet to be received from the Bank of Lithuania. The Baltikums bank office in Lithuania will be headed by a former official of Vilniaus Bankas, Andras Gelinas. The bank intends to promote its services in Lithuania and boost trade between the two countries, expecting also to open an office in Tallinn over the next months and an office somewhere in the CIS some time later. Baltikums is one of the youngest banks in Latvia, starting operations only this January. The bank already owns an offshore insurance company in Lithuania.
